Construction Costs Take a Dip

Publication Date:
August, 2009

If you have been involved in construction at all during the past three to four years you have noticed a rapid rise in the overall cost of construction. A silver lining to the recent economic downturn may be found in a dramatic drop in the cost of construction over the past 6 months. Construction cost indexes have dropped by approximately 9% and some projects have seen bids come in up to 30% lower than the original estimate. This drop can be attributed to several things including falling raw material prices and an overall reduction in the number of projects increasing the number of bids on a given project. If you have a construction project you have been putting off, now may be a good time to start and take advantage of the current situation. Click on the links below for more information.
