Low Head Hydro Final Report Available

Applegate and Colorado State University have completed the low head hydropower study, "Exploring the Viability of Low Head Hydropower in Colorado's Existing Irrigation Infrastructure". The report is available in the Publications section of this website.

Rainwater Harvesting / Rooftop Precipitation Survey

The intent of this survey is to gain a general understanding of the status of rooftop precipitation collection systems in Colorado and to determine if there is a market for engineering assistance related to rooftop precipitation collection system permitting, design, installation, and operation. Colorado State University and engineering firm Applegate Group are to research the potential for utilising low-head hydro turbines in Colorado’s irrigation canals following the award of a US$50,000 grant from the state’s Department of Agriculture.

FORT COLLINS - Three million acres of irrigated land in Colorado could be an untapped source of hydropower and a revenue source for irrigation companies.

A Colorado State University engineering professor is collaborating with an engineering firm, Applegate Group Inc., to review the potential power that could be generated by “low-head” turbines in irrigation canals.
